About And Next Comes L

Founded in 2013 and based in Canada, And Next Comes L is an independently operated blog run by Dyan Robson. This website shares information and resources about hyperlexia, autism, and neurodiversity, as well as sensory activities for kids and a variety of free printable resources for parents and educators.

How Information is Collected

Here is how your information is collected on And Next Comes L:

  • if you subscribe to the newsletter
  • if you've left on the blog (comments are no longer available)
  • through website cookies and log files
  • through Google Analytics

Newsletter

If you decide to join the newsletter via any of the many sign up forms located throughout this website, then your first name and email address are required. We require your email address in order to send you the emails and we require your first name so that my emails to you will include a friendly personalized note. You are welcome to enter a pseudo-name, if you would prefer. It could make for an interesting email each week if you pick something fun!

At the bottom of every email I send, you will find a link to unsubscribe. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. If you are having trouble unsubscribing or would like to be removed from the newsletter, then simply send me an email at dyan@andnextcomesl.com asking to be removed.

I currently use Flodesk as my email service provider (read their terms of service here). Your data is collected and then passed to them. Segments are used within Flodesk to track your actions and page visits so that future emails can be better tailored to meet your needs.

Currently, I send a minimum of two emails per week. However, I will occasionally email you about products and other promotions that may be relevant to your interests.

Some free printables require registering your name and email address first through a Flodesk form.

Your email and name are never sold or given away to a third party.

All emails you receive are CAN-SPAM compliant. At the bottom of every email, you will find information on how to contact the sender, as well as information on how to unsubscribe.

Blog Comments

Blog comments are no longer available at this time. However, comments on older blog posts may still be visible. Those comments are public and, therefore, your name and comment will be visible to others. Your email address, however, is never shared or disclosed.

Store Purchases

Products in the And Next Comes L store are sold via Shopify. Your name, email address, and country are required during the checkout process. This information is required in order to send you the purchased product and to determine whether or not the EU VAT tax should be applied to your purchase.

The details you enter are stored by the third party applications. All payments are made through the payment processors that Shopify uses and they do not store your financial information once the transaction has been processed.

I also sell products via affiliate programs. Each program collects and retains their own data. I do not have access to the personal information that is collected by these affiliate programs. It is best to read their individual privacy policies for more information on how your data is collected and used.

Cookies

Cookies store user-specific information into a log. I use the following cookies on And Next Comes L:

Google Analytics

And Next Comes L uses Google Analytics to track website performance and user behavior. It provides information on pageviews, referral sources, and other valuable information that helps me adapt the content I write for this website. Google Analytics does capture anonymous data about location, age, gender, and interests, but I have no way to connect that information and specifically identify you. Google Analytics may also capture your IP address as you make your way around this website. User and event data does not automatically expire. You can read more about that here.

Hyperlexia Hub Community

The Hyperlexia Hub community is hosted on the Heartbeat app. Your name and email are collected when you create an account and is used to create your account, send you log in information, and send you community updates via email.

You are also asked about whether you are a parent or professional, as well, as your country, during the account creation process in order to tailor the hub experience to best fit your preferences and needs.

You can choose to deactivate your account at any time and all information is kept private.

Support Sessions

I currently offer monthly support sessions on Zoom, as well as one-to-one coaching calls. These are paid services. I used to use Book Like a Boss for scheduling and booking these services, but I now use Tidycal.

Your name and email are used to send you confirmation and reminder emails for your support session. Additional information is collected for one-on-one-calls to help me make the most of our session together.

All payments are processed through the payment processors that Tidycal (and previously, Book Like a Boss) use.

Your information is always kept private and confidential.

Hyperlexia Quiz

I currently use Interact for operating the hyperlexia quiz. When you take the hyperlexia quiz, you will be prompted to enter your name and email address. This information is required in order to send you the results via email and tag you accordingly within the email service that I use (Flodesk). Your email and name are never sold or given away to a third party. Please review the newsletter section for further information about Flodesk and the email newsletter.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.0)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. • Operating System type
  • Operating System version

  • Email (in hashed form)

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.
