Here's an alphabet learning and spelling activity for kids that's St. Patrick's Day themed.  I made these St. Patrick's Day inspired shamrock letters so that my preschooler J could learn and practice spelling some St. Patrick's Day themed words.

This activity makes use of shamrocks with letters on them.  I cut out the shamrocks using my trusty Silhouette Cameo and then used a permanent marker to label each shamrock with a letter.  However, foam shamrocks would be a great alternative.  Just be sure to make doubles of some of the more popular letters.
I then wrote out some St. Patrick's Day related words onto strips of paper.  Some of these words were already familiar to J, while others were not.  My words included:
  • Green
  • Luck
  • Irish
  • Rainbow
  • Gold
  • Leprechaun
  • Magic
  • Shamrock
  • Clover
  • March

J is already a proficient speller, so he quickly went to work spelling leprechaun.

J worked his way through all of the words, taking the time to read and spell each word or trying to sound out the ones that he didn't know.

Eventually he got bored with the spelling activity so he used the supplies in his own little way...This kid seems to turn anything and everything he can into a number.
