A collection of free social stories about arguing. Printable and video social stories for kids are included below.

We all experience arguments from time to time. It's part of everyday life.

However, some kids might need a bit of extra support when it comes to understanding the ins and outs of arguing, what it is, why they happen, why it's important to remain kind and respectful even when you disagree, and some of the potential feelings you (and others) might have when arguing.

And that's where these free social stories about arguing come in. They are a great way to help kids understand what arguments are and why they happen.

Free Social Stories About Arguing

Have you been looking for a social story about arguing? Then look no further than these free printable social stories about arguments. Some require you to have a Teachers Pay Teachers account (which is free!) before you can download them.

I've rounded up some options for you to explore. That way you find the best arguing related social story for yourself or your child. Or you can simply use ideas from different stories below to write your own custom story (free social story templates here to help).

Please note that just because a social story is listed here does not mean I endorse its content. After all, many social stories tend to be poorly written and/or teach autistic masking. Besides, I haven't read all of these stories word for word myself. So please read through the stories carefully before using them.

1. Arguments Social Stories from Happy Learners - There are two social stories here. Both are text only. I like how the arguments one talks about the differences between a good argument and a bad (or unproductive) argument.

2. Social Story for Being Kind & Not Arguing from Mountain Bay Speech Therapy on TPT - This story isn't super detailed, but it is editable. That means you can customize it and tweak the wording as needed.

3. No Arguing Social Story Card from Miss Speechy Pants on TPT - This story talks about arguing with adults at home or at school. It comes across pretty negative, in my opinion, but it might give you some ideas to include when writing your own.

4. Arguing Social Story from Boardmaker - This one uses Boardmaker symbols and is pretty basic. However, it can be a good starting point for writing your own.

Video Social Stories About Arguing

Here are some video social stories that discuss arguments. You can use these in teletherapy sessions, social skills groups, at home, and/or classroom settings. Videos are always a great alternative to printing off a story.

Like the stories above, some of the wording in these videos aren't always great. But I wanted to make sure you had lots of different options for discussing and teaching about arguments.
