Valentine's Day Scrabble Math {Free Printable}

This free printable Scrabble math worksheet makes for a great Valentine's Day math activity for kids.

My five year old loves doing Scrabble math.

It's the perfect combination of spelling and math for his little hyperlexic brain

And as you've probably figured out, it's a Valentine's Day themed one (how did you manage to figure that out?! haha). I hope you love this free printable Scrabble math worksheet as much as he did.

What You'll Need for this Valentine's Day Scrabble Math Activity

To do Scrabble math, you will need:

  • Valentine's Day Scrabble math printable (link to download below)
  • Pencil

Simply spell the words on the sheet using the Scrabble letter tiles, add the numbers on the bottom of each letter tile, and write the answer in the blank. J likes to go back and write the letters in each box once he's solved the math problem.

Scrabble math offers a great opportunity to practice some writing and spelling. Not that he needs help with that at all (see hyperlexia post to see what I'm talking about).

New Year's Scrabble Math {Free Printable}

Looking for New Year's Eve activities for kids? Try this free printable Scrabble math worksheet.

When my oldest was five, I came across this Scrabble addition activity from The Measured Mom and I knew he would love it, which he did.

So I decided to create him some fun themed Scrabble math worksheets like this New Year's themed one.

This New Year's activity for kids is a great way to introduce new vocabulary, practice some math skills, and work on spelling.

Then they simply add up the numbers on the bottom of the tiles and fill in the correct answer.

Ideas on How to Extend this New Year's Activity

My oldest son J is a pro-star at math (he has hypernumeracy after all), so these ended up being way too easy for him. Not surprising though. He did, however, find ways to extend the activity on his own.

First, he noted that a lot of the words had the same score, so he graphed them.

Then we did a tally chart of how many words had certain scores.

He then told me which words had the most points and which one the fewest. Lots of math learning went on!

Math, Money, Time, & Shapes Scrabble Math Printable Pack

It's no secret that our house is math obsessed (especially due to J's hypernumeracy), so it only made sense to make a math themed set of Scrabble math printables. This particular set focuses on concepts like money, 2D shapes, 3D shapes, time, and more! There's lots of words to practice spelling and adding. My son could not wait for me to finish making these ones! And when I was making this pack, he asked, "Where's millenium?" I almost forgot millenium - how dare I! Ha! He's always one step ahead of me.

My boys are addicted to Scrabble math and they simply cannot get enough. I love that these printables are great for a variety of ages. The latest ones we have been working on have focused on an "all about me" theme, focusing on body parts, family members, the five senses, and the clothing that we wear. I've bundled them all up into one easy printable pack, which you can download below.

Super Mario Themed Scrabble Math {Free Printable}

Looking for Super Mario math worksheets? Then you'll want to try this free printable Mario math game that uses Scrabble tiles to work on spelling and math.

We've been doing some Scrabble math nearly every single day for about three weeks now. Five year old J just absolutely loves it!

Well, he also loves Super Mario, so I created these Scrabble themed Super Mario math worksheets for him. It's just such a fun way to work on spelling and math.

In fact, we all love Super Mario in our house. Yes, that includes me. My all time favorite video game is Super Mario World for Super Nintendo (how's that for a random fact?!).

Lately, we have been enjoying playing Super Smash Bros together on the WiiU. We've even been collecting some Amiibos (you can see a few of them featured in the picture above) to go with the game. J really loves the Pikachu Amiibo while K loves the Kirby Amiibo.

So, needless to say, we have been thoroughly enjoying some Nintendo goodness in our house.

So it goes without saying that this Super Mario Scrabble math printable was a huge hit with both boys! That's why there's a little three year old hand grabbing for the printable in the picture. His hand made it into literally every photo I tried to take.
