Have you played with Kinetic Sand before? It is absolutely amazing stuff to play with and my boys love when I pull it out for a quick, no prep sensory activity. We recently added some colorful dollar store cups to the kinetic sand experience, inspired by this geometic solid building activity from Racheous - Lovable Learning. It was a perfect way to explore math concepts, work on fine motor skills, and encourage imaginative play.

This sensory bin is so simple and requires no prep. We used:

Now I have to say that when you fill the tall tube shots with kinetic sand, the result ends up looking like a little poop log. Not joking. That's why I didn't share any pictures of them, except this one.

Regardless, the cups make awesome molds for the kinetic sand. Just fill them up and you can hold the resulting 3D shape in your hands!

The cups also work great to do some stamping. J was making cookies here.

From cookie cutting to muffin baking, imaginative play was in full swing with this activity!

K was a master muffin maker (awesome alliteration alert!). He loved to put the "muffin" in and out of his "muffin cup."
