Looking at the positives of getting an autism diagnosis and giving you reasons to be thankful for an autism diagnosis.

If you have been hesitant to pursue a diagnosis for your child, then I want you to ask yourself why you are so hesitant. Truly dig deep and ask why yourself why.

Are you afraid of having your child labelled?

Are you afraid of the word autism itself?

What is it that makes it all so scary?

Is it the fear of the unknown?

Are you afraid that people will start seeing and treating your child differently?

Whatever it is, your concerns and worries are valid so don't let anyone say that they aren't. I know because I've been in your shoes.

I hate changes just as much as my son does and I am well aware of the autism myths and stereotypes that we are perpetually bombarded with so, of course, I was a bit hesitant at first too. But I knew, deep down, that my son was different and likely autistic.

And honestly, you know what? I'm truly thankful for his autism diagnosis. Yes, I am glad that we pursued a diagnosis for him and got him assessed.
